The Impact of Latent Classes of Social Exclusion on the Loneliness of H-2 Visa Workers

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to classify the patterns of social exclusion among H-2 visa workers residing in Korea, identify the socio-demographic factors distinguishing each pattern, and verify their impact on the loneliness of H-2 visa workers. Data of 2,124 H-2 visa workers from ¡®2020 Immigrants¡¯ Living Condition and Labour Force study¡¯ were analyzed using latent class analysis, multinomial and multiple regression analysis. The analysis identified four distinct patterns of social exclusion: low-exclusion, social participation exclusion, social relationship exclusion and labor?economic exclusion. Gender, age, length of residence in Korea, nationality, level of education and cohabitation status were identified as variables distinguishing the patterns. The labor?economic exclusion groups had a significant impact on loneliness compared to social relationship exclusion group. The study discussed practical implications to alleviate loneliness among H-2 Visa workers based on the results.
